Transportation dispatchers are the people behind the scenes who ensure that truck drivers have cargo to carry and stick to their appointed arrival times and destinations. Dispatchers help truck drivers to concentrate on routes and to safely deliver their cargo. Truck dispatcher duties include scheduling trucks to move freight according to the requirements of the customer, maintaining communication with the driver and the customer during transport, and managing daily schedules and work orders. Dispatchers are also responsible for keeping records, monitoring driver daily logs for errors or violations and monitoring drivers’ working hours and equipment maintenance.
